Rock Choir is a group of community choirs across the UK who make up over 16,000 members nationwide. Because of it's national presence, members have the opportunity to perform both locally and nationally, together with sometimes thousands of other members across the UK at some awe-inspiring events. The Stourbridge group has been running since September 2012 and has performed at many local events including the Stourbridge Christmas Lights Switch-On as well as larger scale national events. Highlights have included performing at Wembley Stadium in front of 65,000 people and joining thousands of other Rock Choir members at Liverpool Echo Arena. In July 2014 we will be putting on our own summer concert at Birmingham's Symphony Hall with a very special celebrity guest!
Rock Choir is the UK's original and largest amateur contemporary choir.. It was set up in 2005 by musician/singer Caroline Redman Lusher, who wanted to reignite people's joy of singing and give them a fun, life-enhancing experience, and it seems that many just can't get enough of it. Unlike traditional choirs, there are no auditions and no need to read music or have any previous experience. Rock Choir is the contemporary choir for people who just love to sing.
Rock Choir's feel good repertoire features specially arranged songs by artists such as Adele, Phil Collins, The Bee Gees and Amy Winehouse. Members attend weekly rehearsals, preparing songs for performances at exciting local and national events, many of which raise money for charity.
Rock Choir has released two popular albums and made numerous TV appearances, including the Paul O'Grady Show, BBC Breakfast and The One Show. It was also the subject of the 2011 three-part ITV1 documentary 'The Choir That Rocks' and has won three Guinness World Records.
Nicknamed 'The People's Choir' by media, Rock Choir's uplifting ethos of fun, friendship and community spirit is a huge part of its attraction. It helps improve people's self-confidence, and gives them new singing skills, a dynamic new social life and a great sense of fulfilment.
